Gram Panchayat Department is an important department among the total 14 departments in the Panchayat Samiti. The Extension Officer (Panchayat) is the head of this department. Plans and other ancillary works at the Panchayat Samiti / Gram Panchayat level which require the approval of the Group Development Officer are carried out.

Objectives And Functions

Implementation and monitoring of schemes as per the government decisions of the Government of Maharashtra, Rural Development Department.

To take action as per Maharashtra Gram Panchayat Act – 1959.
All matters related to the establishment of employees in the cadre of Extension Officer (Panchayat), Village Development Officer and Village Servant under the Gram Panchayat Department.
