R.R. (Aaba) Patil Beautiful Village Award Scheme

Government of Maharashtra, Rural Development Department Government Decision No. Smagrayo–2020/Pr.No.39/Yojana–11 dated 20.03.2020, the name of the “Smart Gram” scheme has been changed to R. R. (Aba) Patil Sundar Gram Puraskar Yojana.

Information About The Scheme :
Under the R. R. (Aba) Patil Sundar Gram Puraskar Yojana, the main objective is to maintain environmental balance and create prosperous villages by developing the available natural resources through the participation of citizens in the Gram Panchayats. Through this scheme, work is done at the village level by coordinating and integrating the village level schemes of various departments in the state. Every Gram Panchayat has an equal opportunity to participate in this scheme.

Scheme Criteria And Conditions :
Gram Panchayats are selected on transparent criteria. The following criteria apply for participation:

  • Gram Panchayats with a population of more than 5000

  • Gram Panchayat near the city

  • Gram Panchayats that have received awards in the past

  • Other Gram Panchayats

The scoring system is based on cleanliness, management, accountability, non-conventional energy and environment, transparency and technology use. A total of 100 points have been maintained.

Criteria for selecting a Beautiful Village :

Cleaning :

  • Personal toilet facilities and uses

  • Toilet facilities and uses in public buildings

  • Water quality testing

  • Wastewater management

  • Solid waste management

Management :

  • Foundation for facility development

  • Health and education facilities

  • Effective implementation of Central/State sponsored schemes

  • Self-help group

  • Stop using plastic

Responsibility :

  • Regular payment of Gram Panchayat Gharpatti/Panipatti and water supply and street lighting bills

  • Backward Classes / Women, Child Welfare / Disability Expenditure

  • Completing the audit

  • Organizing a Gram Sabha

  • Social Responsibility

Non-Conventional Energy And Environment :

  • Use of LED lights and conversion of LED lights to electrical circuits

  • Solar street lights

  • Controlled use of Biogas

  • Plantation

  • Water Conservation

Transparency And Technology :

  • Computerize all records of Gram Panchayat.

  • Providing convenience to citizens through computerization

  • Gram Panchayat website and improved use of technology

  • Aadhar card

  • Using the command system on a computer

The Gram Panchayat should conduct a self-evaluation and submit a proposal to the Panchayat Samiti for approval. The Gram Panchayat that scores higher in the self-evaluation is given 2.5% additional marks. The Taluka-level inspection committee declares the Taluka as a beautiful village after cross-inspection. After the Taluka-level beautiful village is declared, the District-level inspection is conducted and the District-level beautiful village is declared.
