The Central Government launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 15th August 2014. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) scheme, eligible households are provided with incentive subsidy for individual toilets, which is based on a baseline survey. This benefit is provided to households without individual toilets at the Gram Panchayat level.
Palghar district was declared as the 12th Open Defection Free (ODF) district in the state on October 2, 2017.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), public toilet construction, solid waste and sewage management, and public awareness programs on cleanliness are implemented at the Gram Panchayat level.
